What is the signifi cance of history anyway? Has it become merely
the memorization of a boring list of people, places, events, and dates?
Starting with geography and the cultures of the world provides a
foundation for chronological history that connects us to God’s heart
for the peoples of the world, and prepares us to observe God’s hand
in history. Many of the cultural references in the Bible can be best
understood in the context of historical events. The New Testament
is built upon the Old Testament. The U.S. democracy traces its
roots back to the Greeks. Timelines, notebooks, and simple handson
projects help children and adults enjoy and retain history. When
history has a context, and we have God’s heart for people, retention
increases, and our role in history becomes exciting! |
